The idea of Ameibo started in the spring of 2007 when four of the founders of successful digital marketing company Tradedoubler, came up with a unique concept. The vision was to combine the BitTorrent sharing technology and vast content of the illegal movie sites with an easy-to-use legal option. A user that buys a movie will earn money by sharing it to other Ameibo users. A concept that no other movie site in the world has, and a slap in the face of the illegal movie community.

  You said I could Rent or Buy movies from Ameibo…?

  That’s correct, sir! It costs a little more to Buy a movie, but that baby is yours for life.
  Watch it as many times as you want – impress friends and family alike when you act out entire scenes from your favorite movies that you’ve watched over and over.
  But remember – nobody likes a “show-off”*.
  
  When you Rent a movie, you get to watch it as many times as you want within a 24 hour period of your choosing. But you can do that on your schedule because you have 30 days to choose when you want to watch the movie.
  And you can keep earning money from your rental movie long after you’ve watched it. All you have to do is keep sharing and it will keep earning (*unless it’s this kind of “showing off”).
  
  And once you’ve downloaded your movies you can conveniently watch them on your computer. Or hook your computer up to your nifty flat screen TV and watch the movie there.
  In special cases you can go old school by burning the movie to a DVD and then watch it using your DVD player. Just make sure you pay attention to the symbols Ameibo provides you with each product.
