Ett nyskilt och ständigt grälande par (Matthew McConaughey och Kate Hudson) är ute efter guldet, diamanterna, smaragderna och rubinerna som gömmer sig någonstans på havets botten. McConaughey spelar Finn, som fortfarande trånar efter sitt ex (Hudson) och som dessvärre också kommit på sniskan med gangstern Bigg Bunny. Efter åtta års sökande hittar Finn äntligen ledtråden till en fantastisk skatt som under mystiska omständigheter försvann i Karibien år 1715. Allt han behöver göra är att lägga vantarna på guldet och flickan, innan Bigg Bunny får tag på honom! Fool’s Gold är regisserad av Andy Tennant (Hitch) och är en film som glittrar av action, romantik, komedi, spänning och snabba repliker.
I convinced some Hollywood types to pay me to write a real piece of crap movie. It starred a basketball player who was famous for dating Madonna and a stand up comic who was famous for imitating dinosaur behavior. Produced by an ex-Israeli tank commander, directed by a man obsessed with Russian hookers and written by people who had absolutely no idea what they were doing, it is one of the worst motion pictures to ever be released into the movie theaters. What I have just told you serves two purpsoses. #1 it warns you that the movie is bad. #2 it lowers your expectations of the movie so that if you ever do happen to see it, you’ll think it’s a crap fest, but you won’t think it’s a total crap fest. This brings us to “Superhero Movie.
Having seen each “spoof” movie get worse and worse, my expectations for this one couldn’t be any lower which of course means the movie was nowhere as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, the movie is funny. Really funny. It does a great job of parodying the “superhero” genre and giving it a super kick to the balls with lines like “with great powers come great bitches”. I could go on with more positive things, but I don’t want to raise your expectations too high...
