King Of Kong: A Fist Full Of Quarters Story
Fenomenet ”King of Kong” visar att en film inte behöver handla om familjetragedier, episka hjältar eller hjärtskärande krig för att vinna publikens, kritikernas och filmfestivalernas hjärtan. Två nördar och ett TV-spel går minst lika bra. Det här är en av senare års tveklöst mest hyllade och omtalade filmer och liknar ingenting du någonsin sett tidigare! Och allt är dessutom på riktigt … Under det tidiga 1980-talet satte legenden Billy Mitchell ett rekord i tv-spelet Donkey Kong vilket höll i 25 år, tills skolläraren Steve Wiebe knäckte honom. Detta satte igång en enorm konspirationsteori om fusk och det enda sättet att kröna mästaren var en ny tävling …
Brilliant! That's my one word to describe The King of Kong.This is one of the best productions I've ever seen. The film makers really succeed in turning this super geeky theme into a regular nail-biter. Suspense is built up through out the entire movie. When 'Eye of the Tiger' is played, it gave me more chills than it did when I watched Rocky and Apollo Creed for the very first time. Billy Mitchell, the Donkey Kong world record holder since the early eighties, is portrayed as the villain well in class with 'The Joker' of the 'Dark Knight'. But the best part: It's a true story! It's the fact that it's all true that makes King of Kong such a great movie. There is no way to fake the characters in this movie. When i say characters I don't just mean 'characters', but 'Characters' with a capital C! People who have devoted their lives to arcade gaming and everything connected to it. Some of these guys are really far out, but as i already mentioned, it's their genuineness that makes this movie truely great.
So, what is King of Kong about? It tells the story of Steve Wiebe's and Billy Mitchell's battle for the world record of the arcade game Donkey Kong. Billy has it all: looks like Brad Pitt (oh well), tons of faithful fans (oh well again...), a successful business (oh well x3) and a wife to die for (ok, I'll stop now), a true winner as we know them. Steve is a regular 'average Joe' who has fallen on the goal line in whatever he attempts. This is however one thing that separates Steve from the rest of us: he has a mind of steel and he has set it on becoming the worlds most successful Donkey Kong player.
It doesn't matter if you aren't a big fan of video games. If you have ever really set your mind to achieve something you will be able to identify yourself with King of Kong. So, what are you waiting for? See The King of Kong today!
