Den legendariske regissören använder sig av olika infallsvinklar och berättartekniker för att belysa medias filtrerande roll i krigsrapporteringen. Filmen har orsakat en hel del kontrovers i USA, där exempelvis TV-kanalen FOX News med Bill O’Reilly i spetsen gått ut hårt mot dess ”antipatriotiska” budskap. Redacted belönades med 2 priser vid Venedigs filmfestival 2007, varav ett var Silverlejonet för bästa regi.
