Question: I don´t know anything about BitTorrents and all that. Can I download anyway?
Of course. Just download the movie and we´ll take care of the rest.
Question: My download stopped at xx% and hasn't moved for half an hour. What do I do?
1. Make sure you are online (you probably are since you found this page...)
2. Restart your BitTorent client. If you are using Ameibos downloading device, close the window and click the download-button
next to the movie on the "My Content" page. Don't worry, all bittorrent clients have resume functionality, so the download will continue right where it stopped.
3. Restart your computer. Log in at www.ameibo.com, click "Manage Account" and then "My Content". Click the download-button next to the movie you want to continue downloading.
Of course! Just log in at www.ameibo.com from your home server. This will enable your home server to be able to share. Then copy the torrent-file and the downloaded data to your home server. Finally, open the torrent-file in your bit torrent client located at the home server.
Question: I want to burn the movie I downloaded to DVD. IS that possible?
Some movies can be burned to DVD, others cannot. To find out if your movie can be burned, click the "Technical Specifications"-tab of that movie and check the file type. If it is ISO, it can be burnt.
Your Windows Media Player may need a security upgrade to be able to play copy protected (DRM) movies. Visit Microsoft to upgrade. Don't worry, once you have gone through this you will never have to do it again. If this doesn't solve the problem, make a note of any error messages you may be getting and contact support.
Question: The movie won't play in Windows Media Player!
Perhaps the movie you downloaded has the file format ISO - a file format normally used for buring movies to a DVD. So, here are two different options to watch this movie:
1. Burn it to a DVD and watch in with your DVD player and your TV.
2. Download the great media player VLC and play the movie on your computer.
Question: What resolution and bitrate are the movies?
Almost all movies on Ameibo have resolution based on PAL (720x576) or NTSC (720x480). Some of the movies are somewhat cropped from that resolution to remove black bars at top and bottom.
The bitrate we use is based on the quality of the source material and vary between 2200 and 3500 kpbs. This information can be found under the tab "Technical Specifications" at the movie main page.
If you are using windows Vista, you should find your movie at:
c:\users\
or
c:\users\
If you are using Windows XP, the files can be found at:
c:\Documents and settings\
or
c:\Documents and settings\
Full (or true) HD is beautiful to watch, but really demanding for your computer. Unless you use an application that takes full advantage of your computers hardware - hardware acceleration - such as video card and/or the CPU's multimedia capabilities, you'll need a pretty powerful computer to render full HD without flickering. The major operating systems built-in players such as QuickTime for OSX and Media Player for Windows will in most cases have full HW-acceleration on their respective platform. Most open source players won't!
Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 12 handles HD perfectly, so, if possible, we recommend that you upgrade your computer. In most cases we may be able to supply you with a lower resolution copy of the move, so please contact us!
